গত ২৩ ও ২৪ জুলাই ২০২৬ -এই দু’টি দিন ছিল ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটি ওয়ার্কিং কমিটির জন্য এক অন্যরকম অনুভূতির সময়। ব্যস্ত দৈনন্দিন জীবন আর কাজের ক্লান্তি ভুলে কমিটির সদস্যরা মেতে উঠেছিলেন হাওরের স্নিগ্ধ রূপ ও আনন্দের উৎসবে। দু'দিনের এই অবিস্মরণীয় সফরে ভ্রমণ ডায়েরিতে যুক্ত হয়েছিল পাকুন্দিয়া, ইটনা, নিকলী, অষ্টগ্রাম এবং মিঠামইনের রূপকথা। ​ ​ভ্রমণের শুরুতেই যুক্ত হয়েছিল এক বিশেষ স্মৃতি। যাত্রাপথেই বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের মাননীয় ভাইস-চ্যান্সেলর প্রফেসর ড. ফরিদ আহমদ সোবহানী স্যারের আন্তরিকতায় মুগ্ধ হই আমরা সবাই। তিনি পুরো দলকে তাঁর নিজ গ্রাম পাকুন্দিয়ায় এক রাজকীয় মধ্যাহ্নভোজে আমন্ত্রণ জানান। তাঁর গ্রামের বাড়ির আতিথেয়তা এবং উষ্ণ অভ্যর্থনা পুরো ভ্রমণের আনন্দকে শুরুতেই কয়েক গুণ বাড়িয়ে দেয়। ​​নিকলী হাওরের কোল ঘেঁষে গড়ে ওঠা রিসোর্টে কেটেছে আমাদের রাতের মুহূর্তগুলো। উম্মুক্ত প্রকৃতির স্নিগ্ধ হাওয়া, বিশাল হাওরের বুকে ট্রলারের দোলুনি, হাওরের তাজা মাছের স্বাদ, আর বেড়িবাঁধ ধরে আনমনে হেঁটে বেড়ানো -সব মিলিয়ে সময় যেন থমকে গিয়েছিল। আড্ডা আর সুরের মূর্ছনায় মেতে উঠেছিল চারপাশ। ​ভ্রমণের সবচেয়ে রোমাঞ্চকর মুহূর্তটি ছিল, যখন সবাই মিলে হাওরের স্বচ্ছ জলে নেমে পড়া। আমাদের মাননীয় ভাইস-চ্যান্সেলর স্যার নিজে পানিতে নেমে সবাইকে আরও আনন্দিত ও উজ্জীবিত করে তোলেন। ​এরপর হাওরের বুক চিরে জেগে থাকা নয়নাভিরাম নিকলী-অষ্টগ্রাম অলওয়েদার রোড ধরে আমাদের যাত্রা এগিয়ে চলে। পথিমধ্যে ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটির প্রতিনিধিদের আগমন উপলক্ষ্যে মিঠামইন কলেজে আয়োজন করা হয়েছিল এক প্রাণবন্ত ও মনোজ্ঞ সুরের আসর। ​সম্মানিত উপস্থিতি ও সুনিপুণ আয়োজন ​আনন্দঘন এই ভ্রমণে অন্যান্যদের মধ্যে উপস্থিত থেকে সফরকে উজ্জ্বল করেছিলেন: ​ড. আবুল বাশার খান, রেজিস্ট্রার, ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটি, ​প্রফেসর ড. আবু বিন ইহসান, কনভেনার (ট্যুর কমিটি) ও ডিন, জীবন বিজ্ঞান অনুষদ, ​প্রফেসর ড. মো. আব্দুল্লাহ আল হুমায়ুন, বিভাগীয় প্রধান, ইইই বিভাগ, ​সৈয়দ হাবিব আনোয়ার পাশা, বিভাগীয় প্রধান, বিজনেস অ্যাডমিনিস্ট্রেশন বিভাগ সহ বিভিন্ন বিভাগের শ্রদ্ধেয় শিক্ষক ও কর্মকর্তাবৃন্দ। ​এই দারুণ এবং সফল সফরটির চমৎকার পরিকল্পনা, সমন্বয় ও নিখুঁত বাস্তবায়নের পেছনে মূল কারিগর হিসেবে দায়িত্ব পালন করেছেন ট্যুর কমিটির মেম্বার সেক্রেটারি এবং পাবলিক রিলেশন্স অফিসের প্রধান - সহকারী পরিচালক মোঃ মহিউদ্দীন মজুমদার (আনন্দ)। ​মেঘ আর পানির মধ্যে এই দু’টি দিন ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটি পরিবারের হৃদয়ে এক সুন্দর স্মৃতি হয়ে জমা থাকবে চিরকাল।

Eastern University held its 201st Board of Trustees (BoT) Meeting today on 25 July 2026 in the University’s Conference Room. The meeting was presided over by BoT Chairman Barrister Safayet Mohammad Raju, in the presence of the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Farid A. Sobhani. BoT members present included Mr. Abul Quasem Haider, Prof. Dr. ABM Shahidul Islam, Mr. Anwar Hossain Chowdhury, Mohammad Enayet Ullah, Abul Khair Chowdhury, Ms. Kazi Shamsun Nahar Sheouly (Representative of Mr. M. Shakil Wahed), Engr. Khandaker Mesbah Uddin Ahmed, Liaquat Hossain Moghul, Sk. Sayedur Rahman, Mohammed Ali Azzam, Md. Tanvir Mahmud, Md. Maniruzzaman Molla, Md. Shahriar (Representative of Adzi Trims Ltd.), and Khandaker Sakib Ahmed. From the Eastern University Foundation, Sakhawat Abu Khair Mohammed and Md. Sanirul Islam Molla attended the meeting. Md. Shamsul Huda, Treasurer; Dr. Abul Basher Khan, Registrar, were also present on invitation. The BoT, as the University’s highest governing body, reviewed and approved key academic and administrative matters, including policies, budget, appointments, research, quality assurance, and infrastructure development. The meeting concluded with a strong commitment to advancing academic excellence and the overall institutional growth of Eastern University. After the meeting, a floral reception was accorded to Prof. Dr. ABM Shahidul Islam on his appointment as the Vice-Chancellor of Mawlana Bhashani Science and Technology University (MBSTU). The Board congratulated him on this prestigious appointment and wished him every success in his new leadership role.

Prof. Dr. Farid A. Sobhani, Vice Chancellor of Eastern University, attended the July Uprising Memorial Award Ceremony 2026 at the Bangladesh National Museum, Dhaka, as Honourable Guest, alongside several MPs and VCs. During the ceremony, the Hon'ble Guests delivered speeches and presented awards to the selected recipients. The event was organized by PUNAB with the support of a number of private universities on 13 July 2026. Pleased to share that the Eastern University Social Media Club has been honored with the Club Excellence Award 2026. The award was presented by Dr. Atiqur Rahman Mujahid, Hon'ble Member of Parliament (MP), Government of Bangladesh. Congratulations to the Eastern University Social Media Club on this recognition.

Eastern University successfully organized an enlightening discussion seminar titled "The Mirror of History: The Naval Mutiny and the Epic of Eight Submariners in Changing the Map of the Subcontinent" on 14 July 2026 at Rezakul Haidar Hall. The event was graced by Prof. Dr. Farid A. Sobhani, Vice-Chancellor of Eastern University, as the Chief Guest. Organized by the School of Business, the seminar featured Commodore Jashim Uddin Bhuiyan, ndc, psc (Retd.), renowned history and political analyst, as the keynote speaker. The session was chaired by Professor Brigadier General Dr. A K M Iqbal Azim, ndc, psc, G+ (Retd.), Dean of the School of Business, Eastern University. The distinguished speakers shared insightful perspectives on the Naval Mutiny, the remarkable story of the eight submariners, and their historic role in reshaping the map of the subcontinent. The seminar provided faculty members and students with a valuable opportunity to explore an important yet often overlooked chapter of history, inspiring meaningful discussion and reflection. The 35th Meeting of the Disciplinary Committee of Eastern University was held on 6 July 2026 in the University Conference Room. The meeting was presided over by Mr. Md. Shahriar, Member of the Board of Trustees (BoT) and Chairman of the Committee. Prof. Dr. F. A. Sobhani, Vice-Chancellor of the University, along with the Deans of the Faculties, the Registrar, and the Proctor, attended the meeting. The meeting discussed various disciplinary matters and emphasized the importance of maintaining discipline, integrity, mutual respect, and a safe and congenial academic environment on campus. The Committee reaffirmed its commitment to upholding the University’s rules, regulations, and core values for the well-being of the entire Eastern University community.

The Free Fire Campus Hero – Eastern University Edition Grand Finale was successfully held on 28 June 2026, bringing together talented student gamers for an exciting day of competition, teamwork, strategy, and sportsmanship. Organized by Mangrove Esports in association with the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Eastern University, and the Eastern University Computing Club (EUCC), the tournament provided a vibrant platform for students to demonstrate their gaming skills and competitive spirit. ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটির সামার ট্রাইমিস্টার ২০২৬-এর নবীনবরণ অনুষ্ঠান আজ, ২৭ জুন ২০২৬, বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের নিজস্ব ক্যাম্পাস, আশুলিয়ায় অনুষ্ঠিত হয়েছে। অনুষ্ঠানে সভাপতিত্ব করেন বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের মাননীয় উপাচার্য প্রফেসর ড. ফরিদ আহমদ সোবহানী। অনুষ্ঠানে প্রধান অতিথি হিসেবে উপস্থিত ছিলেন দেশের বিশিষ্ট চিন্তাবিদ প্রফেসর ড. সলিমুল্লাহ খান, ইতিহাস ও দর্শন বিভাগ, নর্থ সাউথ ইউনিভার্সিটি। বিশেষ অতিথি ছিলেন ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটির বোর্ড অব ট্রাস্টিজের চেয়ারম্যান ব্যারিস্টার সাফায়েত মোহাম্মদ রাজু। প্রধান অতিথির বক্তব্যে প্রফেসর ড. সলিমুল্লাহ খান বলেন, উচ্চশিক্ষায় মাতৃভাষা বাংলার ব্যবহার বর্তমানে অত্যন্ত সীমিত; অথচ শিক্ষার গুণগত উন্নয়ন এবং কার্যকর জ্ঞানার্জনের জন্য মাতৃভাষার ব্যবহার অপরিহার্য। তিনি আরও বলেন, দেশের প্রয়োজন অনুযায়ী শিল্পায়ন না হওয়ায় কাঙ্ক্ষিত কর্মসংস্থান সৃষ্টি হচ্ছে না, ফলে বেকারত্বের সমস্যাও রয়ে যাচ্ছে। তিনি প্রাকৃতিক পরিবেশে গড়ে ওঠা ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটি ক্যাম্পাসের সঙ্গে রবীন্দ্রনাথ ঠাকুরের শান্তিনিকেতনের তুলনা করেন। এছাড়া তিনি নবীন শিক্ষার্থীদের জ্ঞানচর্চা, মানবিক মূল্যবোধের বিকাশ এবং আলোকিত জীবন গঠনে আত্মনিয়োগ করার আহ্বান জানান। সভাপতির বক্তব্যে উপাচার্য প্রফেসর ড. ফরিদ আহমদ সোবহানী শিক্ষার্থীদের নৈতিক মূল্যবোধে উজ্জীবিত হয়ে দেশ ও সমাজের কল্যাণে সুনাগরিক হিসেবে নিজেদের গড়ে তোলার আহ্বান জানান। তিনি শিক্ষার্থীদের এ মর্মে শপথ করান যে, তারা কোনো অবস্থাতেই তাদের পিতা-মাতাকে বৃদ্ধাশ্রমে পাঠাবে না। তিনি বলেন, পিতা-মাতার সন্তুষ্টিই একজন সন্তানের জীবনে সফলতার অন্যতম প্রধান চাবিকাঠি। বিশেষ অতিথির বক্তব্যে ব্যারিস্টার সাফায়েত মোহাম্মদ রাজু নবীন শিক্ষার্থীদের বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় জীবনের প্রতিটি মুহূর্ত উপভোগ করার পাশাপাশি পড়াশোনা এবং দক্ষতা উন্নয়নে সক্রিয়ভাবে অংশগ্রহণের আহ্বান জানান। তিনি বলেন, বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় জীবনই একজন শিক্ষার্থীর ভবিষ্যৎ গঠনের অন্যতম গুরুত্বপূর্ণ সময়, তাই এ সময়কে যথাযথভাবে কাজে লাগাতে হবে। অনুষ্ঠানে আরও বক্তব্য রাখেন বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের ট্রেজারার প্রফেসর মো. শামসুল হুদা, রেজিস্ট্রার ড. আবুল বাশার খান এবং বিভিন্ন অনুষদের ডিনবৃন্দ। অনুষ্ঠানে স্বাগত বক্তব্য দেন ওরিয়েন্টেশন অনুষ্ঠানের আয়োজক কমিটির কনভেনর ও ইংরেজি বিভাগের বিভাগীয় প্রধান মোহাম্মদ রফিউসসান। এ সময় বিভিন্ন বিভাগের প্রধান, শিক্ষক, কর্মকর্তা, কর্মচারী, অভিভাবক এবং নবীন শিক্ষার্থীরা উপস্থিত ছিলেন। অনুষ্ঠানে নবীন শিক্ষার্থীদের বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের একাডেমিক কার্যক্রম, শিক্ষার্থী সহায়তা সেবা, বিভিন্ন ক্লাবের কার্যক্রম এবং ক্যাম্পাসের বিভিন্ন সুযোগ-সুবিধা সম্পর্কে বিস্তারিত ধারণা প্রদান করা হয়। অনুষ্ঠান শেষে শিক্ষার্থীদের অংশগ্রহণে এক মনোজ্ঞ সাংস্কৃতিক পরিবেশনা অনুষ্ঠিত হয়।

Eastern University held its 154th Admissions Committee Meeting today at the University Conference Room, chaired by Prof. Dr. Farid A. Sobhani, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of the University. The meeting was attended by members of the Board of Trustees, Treasurer, Registrar, Deans, Heads of departments and administrative offices, and officials from the Admission Department. The committee reviewed key issues relating to admissions, student services, university branding, and strategies to attract prospective students. It also considered the budget for admissions, promotions, and discussed several academic and administrative development initiatives. The meeting concluded with a strong commitment to strengthening the university’s image, and ensuring an efficient and transparent admission process.

আধুনিক বাংলা সাহিত্যের অন্যতম প্রধান কবি ফররুখ আহমদের ১০৮তম জন্মবার্ষিকী উপলক্ষে আজ বুধবার, ১০ জুন ২০২৬ তারিখে ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটির রেজাকুল হায়দার হলে মাননীয় উপাচার্য প্রফেসর ড. ফরিদ আহমদ সোবহানীর সভাপতিত্বে এক আলোচনা সভা অনুষ্ঠিত হয়। “রাত পোহাবার কত দেরী পাঞ্জেরী?: ফররুখের কাব্যলোকের অন্বেষণ” শীর্ষক এ সভায় কবির কাব্যসাধনা, দর্শন ও সাহিত্যিক উত্তরাধিকার নিয়ে বিস্তারিত আলোচনা অনুষ্ঠিত হয়। পবিত্র কুরআন তিলাওয়াতের মাধ্যমে অনুষ্ঠানের সূচনা হয়। অনুষ্ঠানে স্বাগত বক্তব্য প্রদান করেন বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের রেজিস্ট্রার ড. আবুল বাশার খান। পরে কবি পরিচিতি পর্বে ফররুখ আহমদের জীবন ও সাহিত্যকর্মের একটি সংক্ষিপ্ত কিন্তু তথ্যসমৃদ্ধ পরিচিতি তুলে ধরা হয়। অনুষ্ঠানে প্রধান আলোচক হিসেবে উপস্থিত ছিলেন বিশিষ্ট কবি ও দৈনিক যুগান্তর-এর সম্পাদক জনাব আবদুল হাই শিকদার। তিনি ফররুখ আহমদের কবিতায় মানবতাবাদ, মুসলিম পুনর্জাগরণের চেতনা এবং শিল্পসৌন্দর্যের বিভিন্ন দিক তুলে ধরেন। তার আলোচনায় উঠে আসে, কীভাবে ফররুখের কবিতা মানুষের মুক্তির আকাঙ্ক্ষাকে কাব্যিক ভাষায় রূপ দিয়েছে। তিনি বলেন, কবি ফররুখ আহমদের রচনা শতবর্ষ পেরিয়েও আজও প্রাসঙ্গিক। তিনি কবির সাহিত্যকর্মের গভীরতা ও ব্যাপকতা তুলে ধরেন এবং কবির জীবন ও সাহিত্য নিয়ে চলমান গবেষণা কার্যক্রম সম্পর্কেও আলোকপাত করেন। তিনি আরও বলেন, ফররুখ আহমদের সাহিত্যকর্ম কেবল সাহিত্য নয়; এটি নিপীড়িত ও বঞ্চিত মানুষের আত্মপরিচয় ও সংগ্রামের এক গুরুত্বপূর্ণ দলিল। অনুষ্ঠানে বক্তব্য রাখেন ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটির ট্রেজারার অধ্যাপক মো. শামসুল হুদা। তিনি ফররুখ আহমদের কাব্যচর্চার প্রতি গভীর শ্রদ্ধা নিবেদন করেন এবং বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের পক্ষ থেকে এ ধরনের সাহিত্য-সাংস্কৃতিক আয়োজন অব্যাহত রাখার প্রত্যয় ব্যক্ত করেন। সভাপতির বক্তব্যে প্রফেসর ড. ফরিদ আহমদ সোবহানী বলেন, ফররুখ আহমদ মুসলিম রেনেসাঁ ও ইসলামী জাগরণের অন্যতম প্রধান কবি। তিনি শিক্ষার্থীদের ফররুখ আহমদের সাহিত্যকর্ম পাঠ ও গবেষণায় উৎসাহিত করেন এবং বাংলা সাহিত্যে তার অসামান্য অবদান নতুন প্রজন্মের কাছে তুলে ধরার গুরুত্বারোপ করেন। এছাড়াও বক্তব্য রাখেন বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের প্রকৌশল অনুষদের ডিন প্রফেসর ড. মাহফুজুর রহমান। অনুষ্ঠানের আহ্বায়ক ও সঞ্চালক ছিলেন বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের ইংরেজি বিভাগের প্রধান, সহকারী অধ্যাপক জনাব রফিউসসান। অনুষ্ঠানটির সার্বিক ব্যবস্থাপনায় ছিলেন অফিস অব স্টুডেন্ট অ্যাফেয়ার্স অ্যান্ড প্লেসমেন্টের উপপরিচালক কে. এম. মনিরুল ইসলাম। অনুষ্ঠানে বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের শিক্ষক, শিক্ষার্থী, বিভিন্ন বিভাগের প্রধান, কর্মকর্তা, সাহিত্যপ্রেমী ও গুণীজনেরা উপস্থিত ছিলেন। এ উপলক্ষে কবি ফররুখ আহমদের কবিতা আবৃত্তি এবং তার জীবন ও কর্মভিত্তিক আলোকচিত্র প্রদর্শনীর আয়োজন করা হয়। সামগ্রিকভাবে অনুষ্ঠানটি কবি ফররুখ আহমদের স্মৃতি ও সাহিত্যকর্ম নতুন প্রজন্মের সামনে তুলে ধরার একটি সফল উদ্যোগ হিসেবে বিবেচিত হয়।

ঈদুল আজহার ছুটির পর আজ ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটি আবার পূর্ণোদ্যমে কার্যক্রম শুরু করেছে। প্রথম দিনেই মাননীয় উপাচার্য প্রফেসর ড. ফরিদ আহমদ সোবহানীর সঙ্গে বিভিন্ন অনুষদের ডিন ও বিভাগীয় প্রধানগণ শুভেচ্ছা বিনিময় করেন। পরবর্তীতে বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের ওয়ার্কিং কমিটির সদস্যদের নিয়ে এক মতবিনিময় সভা অনুষ্ঠিত হয়। সভায় ঈদের আনন্দঘন স্মৃতি বিনিময়ের পাশাপাশি সামার ২০২৬-এর নবীনবরণসহ বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের বিভিন্ন কার্যক্রমে আরও গতিশীলতা আনার বিষয়ে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ আলোচনা হয়। এ সময় বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের ট্রেজারার, রেজিস্ট্রার, ডিনবৃন্দ, বিভাগীয় প্রধানসহ সংশ্লিষ্ট কর্মকর্তারা উপস্থিত ছিলেন।

ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটি এবং ফেডারেশন অব বাংলাদেশ হিউম্যান রিসোর্স অর্গানাইজেশনস (এফবিএইচআরও)-এর যৌথ উদ্যোগে আজ ঢাকায় “প্রি-বাজেট রাউন্ডটেবিল ডিসকাশন” শীর্ষক একটি আলোচনা সভা অনুষ্ঠিত হয়। এতে দেশের প্রখ্যাত নীতিনির্ধারক, শিক্ষাবিদ, মানবসম্পদ পেশাজীবী এবং শিল্পখাতের নেতৃবৃন্দ অংশগ্রহণ করেন এবং আসন্ন জাতীয় বাজেট নিয়ে মতামত ও সুপারিশ প্রদান করেন। অনুষ্ঠানে প্রধান অতিথি হিসেবে উপস্থিত ছিলেন পরিকল্পনা মন্ত্রণালয়ের মাননীয় প্রতিমন্ত্রী জনাব জোনায়েদ সাকি, এমপি। তিনি তার বক্তব্যে অন্তর্ভুক্তিমূলক ও ভবিষ্যতমুখী বাজেট প্রণয়নের ওপর গুরুত্বারোপ করেন এবং টেকসই অর্থনৈতিক প্রবৃদ্ধিতে মানবসম্পদ উন্নয়ন, শিক্ষা ও উদ্ভাবনের গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা তুলে ধরেন। অনুষ্ঠানে সভাপতিত্ব করেন ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটির উপাচার্য এবং এফবিএইচআরও’র সহ-সভাপতি প্রফেসর ড. ফরিদ আহমদ সোবহানী। তিনি তার বক্তব্যে অর্থনীতি ও কর্মবাজারের পরিবর্তিত চাহিদার সঙ্গে সামঞ্জস্য রেখে নীতি প্রণয়নে একাডেমিয়া, শিল্পখাত ও সরকারের মধ্যে সমন্বয় জোরদারের প্রয়োজনীয়তা তুলে ধরেন। মূল প্রবন্ধ উপস্থাপন করেন এফবিএইচআরও এর প্রতিষ্ঠাতা সভাপতি ড. মোশাররফ হোসেন। তিনি কর্মসংস্থান সৃষ্টি, দক্ষ মানবসম্পদ উন্নয়ন এবং বেসরকারি খাতের সক্রিয় অংশগ্রহণের ওপর গুরুত্ব দিয়ে আসন্ন বাজেটের জন্য বিভিন্ন প্রত্যাশা তুলে ধরেন। অনুষ্ঠানে বিশেষ অতিথি ও বক্তা হিসেবে উপস্থিত ছিলেন ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটির প্রতিষ্ঠাতা চেয়ারম্যান ও বোর্ড সদস্য জনাব আবুল কাসেম হায়দার; এফবিএইচআরও’র মহাসচিব ও এসএলএসডি’র প্রেসিডেন্ট ও সিইও প্রফেসর মঈনউদ্দিন চৌধুরী; মাইজবস-এর সিইও ও এফবিএইচআরও’র পরিচালক জনাব মো. কামরুজ্জামান সবুজ; সিএসডি একাডেমির সিইও ও এফবিএইচআরও’র পরিচালক জনাব এম. শাফাক হোসেইন; ইউএন উইমেন বাংলাদেশ-এর ন্যাশনাল কনসালটেন্ট মিস নিলুফার আহমেদ করিম এবং ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটির রেজিস্ট্রার ড. আবুল বাশার খান । অনুষ্ঠানটি সঞ্ছালনা করেছেন ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটির ব্যবসায় প্রশাসন বিভাগের এসোসিয়েট প্রফেসর, এমবিএ-এর পরিচালক এবং এফবিএইচআরও এর পরিচালক তাসনুভা রহমান। এছাড়া ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটির বিভিন্ন বিভাগের বিভাগীয় প্রধান, শিক্ষক ও কর্মকর্তাবৃন্দ অনুষ্ঠানে উপস্থিত ছিলেন। অংশগ্রহণকারীরা মানবসম্পদ উন্নয়ন, যুব দক্ষতা বৃদ্ধি, নারীর কর্মসংস্থান, শিল্প-একাডেমিয়া সহযোগিতা, প্রযুক্তিনির্ভর কর্মসংস্থান সৃষ্টি, উদ্যোক্তা উন্নয়ন এবং প্রশিক্ষণ কার্যক্রমে বিনিয়োগ বৃদ্ধির লক্ষ্যে বাজেটে অধিক বরাদ্দের ওপর গুরুত্বারোপ করেন। বক্তারা বলেন, চতুর্থ শিল্পবিপ্লব এবং কৃত্রিম বুদ্ধিমত্তা (এআই) নির্ভর ভবিষ্যৎ কর্মবাজারের চ্যালেঞ্জ মোকাবিলায় বাংলাদেশকে দক্ষ, প্রযুক্তিনির্ভর ও প্রতিযোগিতামূলক জনশক্তি গড়ে তুলতে হবে। এ লক্ষ্যে জাতীয় বাজেটে মানবসম্পদ উন্নয়নকে সর্বোচ্চ অগ্রাধিকার দেওয়ার কোনো বিকল্প নেই বলেও তারা মত প্রকাশ করেন। অনুষ্ঠানের সমাপ্তিতে অংশগ্রহণকারীরা ভবিষ্যতেও এ ধরনের গঠনমূলক সংলাপ অব্যাহত রাখার অঙ্গীকার ব্যক্ত করেন, যা প্রমাণভিত্তিক নীতিনির্ধারণ এবং বাংলাদেশের টেকসই অর্থনৈতিক উন্নয়নে সহায়ক হবে।

ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটির শিক্ষক, শিক্ষার্থী ও কর্মকর্তা-কর্মচারীদের উন্নত স্বাস্থ্যসেবা নিশ্চিত করার লক্ষ্যে আজ বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের ক্যাম্পাসে ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটি ও ফরাজী হাসপাতাল লিমিটেডের মধ্যে একটি সমঝোতা স্মারক (MoU) স্বাক্ষরিত হয়েছে। এটি বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় কমিউনিটির স্বাস্থ্যসেবা উন্নয়নে একটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ মাইলফলক। সমঝোতা স্মারকটি আনুষ্ঠানিকভাবে স্বাক্ষর করেন ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটির মাননীয় উপাচার্য প্রফেসর ড. ফরিদ আহমদ সোবহানী এবং ফরাজী হাসপাতাল লিমিটেডের ব্যবস্থাপনা পরিচালক ডা. এম. মোক্তার হোসেন। অনুষ্ঠানে উপস্থিত ছিলেন বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের রেজিস্ট্রার, ট্রেজারার, বিভিন্ন অনুষদের ডিন, বিভাগীয় প্রধানগণ এবং উভয় প্রতিষ্ঠানের ঊর্ধ্বতন কর্মকর্তাবৃন্দ। এই চুক্তির আওতায় ফরাজী হাসপাতাল লিমিটেড ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটির শিক্ষক, শিক্ষার্থী, কর্মকর্তা, কর্মচারী এবং তাদের পরিবারের সদস্যদের জন্য বিশেষ ছাড়ে স্বাস্থ্যসেবা প্রদান করবে। প্রদত্ত সেবার মধ্যে রয়েছে জরুরি সেবা, আইসিইউ, ডায়াগনস্টিক সেবা, ফার্মেসি, অ্যাম্বুলেন্স সুবিধা এবং বিভিন্ন বিশেষজ্ঞ চিকিৎসা সেবা, যা দিনরাত চব্বিশ ঘণ্টা পাওয়া যাবে। এছাড়াও সমঝোতা স্মারকের অন্তর্ভুক্ত রয়েছে বিভিন্ন কর্পোরেট স্বাস্থ্যসেবা সুবিধা, যেমন — ল্যাবরেটরি পরীক্ষা, ইমেজিং সেবা, ফিজিওথেরাপি এবং হাসপাতালে ভর্তি সেবায় উল্লেখযোগ্য ছাড়। পাশাপাশি স্বাস্থ্য পরীক্ষা, টিকা প্রদান সেবা এবং শিশু, প্রাপ্তবয়স্ক ও বয়োজ্যেষ্ঠ নাগরিকদের জন্য বিশেষভাবে প্রণীত স্বাস্থ্য স্ক্রিনিং প্যাকেজও এই চুক্তির অন্তর্ভুক্ত করা হয়েছে, যা প্রতিরোধমূলক স্বাস্থ্যসেবা ও সার্বিক সুস্বাস্থ্য নিশ্চিতে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা রাখবে। এই সহযোগিতার অংশ হিসেবে ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটির কর্মকর্তা ও কর্মচারীরা প্রতি বছর ছাড়কৃত মূল্যে একটি পূর্ণাঙ্গ স্বাস্থ্য পরীক্ষার সুযোগ পাবেন। এই উদ্যোগ বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় কমিউনিটির মধ্যে স্বাস্থ্য সচেতনতা বৃদ্ধি এবং সময়মতো চিকিৎসা সহায়তা নিশ্চিত করতে সহায়ক হবে বলে আশা করা যাচ্ছে। সমঝোতা স্মারকটি প্রাথমিকভাবে দুই বছরের জন্য কার্যকর থাকবে। ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটি কমিউনিটির জন্য সহজলভ্য ও মানসম্পন্ন স্বাস্থ্যসেবা নিশ্চিত করতে এই উদ্যোগ উল্লেখযোগ্য ভূমিকা রাখবে বলে প্রত্যাশা করা হচ্ছে।

The Eastern University Research Society (EURS) successfully organized a workshop titled “Fundamentals of Research” today 12th May 2026 at Rezakul Haider Hall. The event provided participants with valuable insights into the core principles and practical aspects of academic research. The workshop featured Dr. Md. Mahmudul Alam, Professor of Finance at BRAC Business School, as the Keynote Speaker. Dr. Alam delivered an engaging session on the fundamentals of research, offering practical guidance to enhance academic and research capabilities among students and faculty. The program began with a recitation from the Holy Quran, followed by a welcome speech by Dr. Md. Ashraf Hossain, Director of the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and Professor at the School of Business Administration. Prof. Md. Shamsul Huda, Treasurer of Eastern University, and Dr. Abul Basher Khan, Registrar of Eastern University, also graced the occasion and shared their valuable thoughts, inspiring the participants with words of wisdom and encouragement on the importance of research and academic excellence. Eastern University organized a highly informative workshop titled “Workshop on Exam Anxiety” on Saturday, 9 May 2026, for students of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE). Conducted by Munia Zahan Mony, Psychosocial Counselor of the Office of the Counsellor, EU, the workshop aimed to help students understand the root causes of exam anxiety and learn practical ways to manage it. The interactive session covered key topics including lack of preparation, fear of failure, family expectations, and other psychological factors that contribute to exam-related stress. Through engaging slides and open discussion, students gained valuable insights into recognizing both positive and negative aspects of anxiety and effective coping strategies. Eastern University held its 200th Board of Trustees (BoT) Meeting on 09 May 2026 at the university’s Conference Room. The meeting was presided over by Chairman Barrister Safayet Mohammad Raju, in the presence of Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Farid A. Sobhani. BoT members present included Abul Quasem Haider, Prof. Dr. ABM Shahidul Islam, Anwar Hossain Chowdhury, S.M. Bakhtiar Alam, Abul Khair Chowdhury, Kazi Shamsun Nahar Sheouly (Representative of M. Shakil Wahed), Engr. Khandaker Mesbah Uddin Ahmed, Mohammed Ali Azzam, Afzalur Rahman, Md. Tanvir Mahmud, Md. Maniruzzaman Molla, Md. Shahriar (Representative of Adzi Trims Ltd.), and Khandaker Sakib Ahmed. From Eastern University Foundation, Sakhawat Abu Khair Mohammed, Md. Sanirul Islam Molla, and Shahab Uddin Khan attended. Md. Farid Hossain, Secretary of the BoT and Deputy Registrar, was also present. The BoT, as the highest governing body, reviewed and approved key academic and administrative decisions, including policies, budget, appointments, research, quality assurance, and infrastructure development. Members of the Board of Trustees (BoT), including Mr. Abul Quasem Haider and Mr. Afzalur Rahman, along with Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mezbah-ul-Islam (External Member from DU), Dr. Abul Basher Khan (Registrar), Mr. Md. Shamsul Huda (Treasurer), and other senior officials, Deans, and Heads were present. The meeting discussed key issues including academic development, recruitment and promotion, quality assurance, teaching evaluation, infrastructure development, research initiatives, and administrative efficiency.
