The Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition is the largest and most prestigious moot court competition for law students worldwide and is widely known as the “World Cup Moot.” The Bangladesh Qualifying Rounds of Jessup 2026 were organized by Jessup Bangladesh and the ILSA Bangladesh Chapter, in association with Hearth Bangladesh, Konrad Adenauer Stiftung, and AIUB, marking the tenth consecutive year of the competition in Bangladesh.
This year’s national rounds witnessed a record participation of 48 law schools from across the country, making it the largest national Jessup competition in South Asia and the third largest in the world. Among the ten editions of the Bangladesh Qualifying Rounds held to date, Eastern University’s qualification marks its sixth advancement to the international rounds, including four championships and two runner-up finishes—a testament to its sustained excellence in mooting.
Upon their return, the team was warmly congratulated by Honorable Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Farid A. Sobhani, Treasurer Professor Md. Shamsul Huda, and Registrar Dr. Abul Basher Khan, followed by a celebratory photo session. The Department of Law also accorded the team a red-carpet welcome and hosted a reception at Rezakul Haider Hall, Eastern University.
Eastern University takes immense pride in the success of its mooting team and looks forward to their continued excellence at the international level. Congratulations to the team on this remarkable achievement.
